MSFD participative session
Las 28th of March 2019 Marta Sánchez from Marine Technology Centre (CTN) participated in the MSFD participative session in the Pitiuso field organised by GEN-GOB Eivissa within the framework of the project “La Mar, una responsabilidad compartida”, whose objective is to improve the marine governance in Pitiusas.
The main aim of the seminar was to inform the diferent agents of the process of implementation of the Marine Strategies in the Levantine-Balearic Demarcation, identifying by means a dialogue involved, challenges and opportunities offered by the Marine Strategies for the achievement of Good Environmental Status (GES) in Pitiusas.
The programme of this session included presentations, micro-presentations and participative workshops on Biodiversity, Marine Protected Areas and fishing; underwater noise and pollution.
The participation of CTN was focused on the participative workshop on underwater noise with the presentation of QUIETMED project and Marta Sánchez talked about how to achieve coherence in the study of underwater noise (Descriptor 11) for the implementation of the Marine Strategies in the Mediterranean Sea Region.
The impact of underwater noise was key in these participative session on the Marine Strategies in the Balearic Islands and the QUIETMED project offers the guidelines to address it.
In this Conference participated different organizations, entities and associations of the sector as the General Directorate of Sustainability of the Coast and Sea from the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica (MITECO), Instituto Mediterráneo de Estudios Avanzados (UIB-CSIC), Conselleria de Medio Ambiente, Agricultura y Pesca de Baleares, IEO, WWF-España, Alianza Mar Blava, Marilles Foundation, Tursiops, etc.
